The Journey of Bytheicws

Bytheicws farm has been in Sian's family for generations. When we took over the property, as you can see below, the outbuildings were in a state of disrepair. Along with her cousin Alan, a master builder, we spent three  years renovating both cottages, remaining as faithful as we could to their history and character, while introducing modern comforts, and now we are proud of the beautiful holidays lets that they have become

                     It has been a true labour of love!

The ceilings in most cases were not high. Giving our guests the benefit of underfloor heating meant digging out and barrowing away a phenomenal amount of rubble. We installed ground source heats pumps.  A local craftsman produced hand-made wooden  doors and windows for us. using the existing. openings. We inserted insulation in most walls and preserved some feature walls which were  re-pointed using traditional materials. Staircases were made by another local craftsman. Provision was also made for bats and swallows. Much existing furniture was restored and re-purposed.
